WHY BHUTAN CITIZENS’ INITIATIVE?
Nation untouched for decades by external influences, Bhutan remained as a proud country with its unique cultural and traditional values closely knit among its citizens – the values and the sense of belonging that the senior generation take pride and cherish today in their spirit and mind.
The advent of modernization and socioeconomic growth that can be measured today in figures has brought along its own effect on this sense of belonging to each other. This closely knit community that shared feelings for each other in spirit and action is eroding away. “You help and help each other” among the citizenry is no more an approach of the day.
The Bhutan Citizens’ Initiative (BCI) is an endeavor of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) to reorient the thoughts and actions in “acknowledging the past and preparing better for the future”. The BCI is a modest effort that shall draw and register multidisciplinary volunteers to deliver free services to the needy members of the Bhutanese community. It attempts to flag itself as an example of togetherness and attachment. The BCI shall consistently endeavor to inculcate the sense of belonging to the community and the pride of being a worthy volunteer while extending its helping hands to the needy fellow citizens through its services. This website provides information on the citizens’ initiative, it explains the rules, and enables you to launch your inventiveness as well as to volunteer for any support that you wish to render to the needy institutions or individuals in Bhutan.
